Uncle Creepy's Yard Sale(2009)
The Chicken Nighter's present Uncle Creepy's Yard Sale. ·A collection of those lyrics left over in the attic of our collective conciousness. ·Ooo... ·Did I say that out loud? Convenient Man - Words by Tim, music by Hinde. Tim is the original convenient man. Ladies, he is up for grabs and the line forms here... Danielle on lead vocals, Hinde on harmony, Michael on ska-tar, and the amazing Jamie on bass. Original Muscadine - Words and music by Hinde. Recorded live at an actual Chicken Night party on 02/11, this song is about Hinde's grandfathers attempts at making wine in the deep south in the 1950's. There were no established grapes, only muscadines. Hinde on vocals and rhythm guitar, Michael on lead, Steven on trumpet, Sonny on Congas and again the amazing Jamie on bass. Do Right - Words and music by Hinde. Sometimes, men just don't get it. But at the very least they could get on with it. Consider this song the instruction manual. Danielle on vocals, Hinde on harmony, Michael on guitar, the amazing Jamie on bass and an apple drum loop. Walking on the Beach - Words by Tim, Music by Hinde. Ah, a perfectly innocent day at the beach can be life-altering...in more ways than one! Hinde on vocals and guitar, and Jamie - who is really amazing - on bass. Visions - Words by Tim, music by Hinde, arranged and produced, prodded and conjured out of the dark recesses by the amazing Jamie. (...and you though he only played bass?) Things that go bump in the middle of the night, swirling around in your head makes sleep completely impossible - at least until you write that shit down. Just ask Uncle Creepy... Stephen on vocals, and sfx, Michael on guitar, Sonny on congas, Mr. Apple Loops on drum, and the ever amazing Jamie on bass AND whuppin' up on the whole song. Shoot Me or Shake My Hand - words by Tim, music by Hinde. This one is definitely from the dark side of us all. We couldn't tell whether it should be a folk anthem or a strange trip of exploration down the river of personal belief - so we made it both. Tell us what you hear... Hinde on vocals, Michael on guitar, Sonny on congas, Stephen on horn and Jamie on bass Everything Changes - words by Tim, music by Hinde. This song is about being there, and then not being there and looking back through that window again. Beautifully sung by the multi-talented Jamie, Hinde on rhythm and flute, Michael on lead and the amazing Jamie again on bass. Backyard Buzz - words and music by Hinde, loops by Apple. Inspired by Hinde's brother, this song is about the male midlife crisis. Some men get sports cars or trophy wives, my brother got a mountain bike and regularly risks his life. So, it is all about the questions you ask as you see your life flash before your eyes...riding down the hill at 100+ miles an hour. Now, where did I put my will?? Little Monster - Words by Tim, music by Hinde, arranged by Jamie. Tim finally lets the cat -- er, uh I mean "monster" -- out of the bag... And he's hungry! Tim on vocals, Michael on guitar, Sonny on congas, triple Stephen on horn, and once again, the amazing Jamie on bass and in the drivers seat for all the monsterously fun tracks. (Hinde plays the monster...) Muscadine Jazz - words and music by Hinde, arranged by Jamie. But Mom... He started it!!!! This version was obviously one of those late night musician dares. Hey y'all, watch this!! So we did it. Hinde and Stephen on vocals, Stephen on horn, apple on the drum loops, and the amazing Jamie (aka, damn is he really playing that line at 240?) on bass. Listening to this, you know why we call him a Bad Ass. All songs lovingly and beautifully mixed by Joe! Mostly, these are Tim Poates lyrics and Hinde Garrison music. All the solos and leads and bass lines were created by those playing them. But the writing of a tune is not the most amazing part of this experience or what we wanted to get at when we committed ourselves to this challenge. We wanted to try and capture the spontaneity of the creative moment. We did it in Garage Band with a Blue Snowball Mic. We used Apple's loops for drums on several tunes and created one tune completely from loops. We tried to minimize our takes, double up on our tracks and just keep it going. So, we hope that this snapshot album will give you the feeling of being there with us at Chicken Night.
